I am tired. I spent most of the afternoon dozing, but I am tired. I have far too much to tell to be able to detail it, especially since I haven’t updated the blog in about a week.

It was pretty busy last week. We left for Virginia last Thursday at around 3:30. CB spent Wednesday night with me, and then I worked for six hours and had time to change before leaving the apartment with Mom & Dad. We stopped in a shithole motel in Clearfield, PA for the night. That was around 9:30 or so. The guy at the border asked me extra questions, I expect because my passport is still in my married name.

We arrived at Grandpa’s Friday afternoon around 3:30, in time to get changed and go back to the Church for the rehearsal, followed by hors d’oeuvres at the house of one of my new aunts. I’ve gained two new aunts and a new uncle, plus assorted cousins and such. The wedding went extremely well on Saturday, and it was a very short ceremony. I got several compliments on my dress, including one from my father!

I took pictures real-time and posted them immediately on FB so Sis and my aunt could see them. Of course, two aunts were there, but the third couldn’t or wouldn’t make it.

The family then went back to Grandpa’s place and ordered pizza, talked, and played cards for a few hours. Everyone cleared out by ten or so, and those of us who were staying there bedded down. I slept on grandpa’s bed, under my sleeping bag, so Mom wouldn’t have to wash his sheets as well. (She washed the ones off the spare bed that she and Dad used.)

We had brunch at the Jefferson Hotel this morning, courtesy of Grandpa and my new grandma. There was champagne and orange juice, coffee, and tea. The brunch featured more food than you could possibly eat… I had three plates. Aunt Red ate nothing except white mousse, roast beef, and pate. I loaded up with mashed potatoes with bleu cheese, spoonbread, shrimp, bacon, eggs benedict, fresh fruit, sliced cheese, chocolate cake, chocolate tart, nut tart, pumpkin cheesecake …. I skipped the apple butternut squash soup, the carved ham, the omelet and waffle stations, several different vegetable dishes and the oysters… Wow, what a place. What a place!

I also set Grandpa up with a new email address as per his request, and I emailed him instructions on how to cancel the old one. I also talked to my cousin who lives down there about what Grandpa wanted, and left Grandpa a note that he could help if required.

We drove all the way back today. We left the brunch around 12:30 and I got home at eleven. Not so bad. I did three hours of driving, Dad did one, Mom did the rest.

Now, I’ve typed long enough, I want to go lay down in my own bed, in my quiet apartment, and contemplate the ceiling. Perhaps I’ll finally be able to shake the headache that’s plagued me since Maryland!
